May 2020 Video of Musica! Exhibition

I had shared earlier that my work, Gladness, is on display at the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky. The museum has reopened! Here's a video of the exhibition created by Laura Hendrickson, Registrar & Manager of the Collection: It is long, but I loved seeing the works in the galleries. My work is shown beginning at 8:03! It made me happy to see it exhibited like on stage with a spotlight and dancing on top of a mirror! I invite you to take a look!

April 2020 Studio Art Quilts Associates Global Exhibition Beyond the Mirror
I have yet to attend the Quilt Festival Houston and now I have the perfect reason to make that trip! My vessel, Cautious, was one of 31 pieces selected for the SAQA Global Exhibition Beyond the Mirror by juror Andra Stanton. 

Beyond the Mirror is scheduled to debut at Quilt Festival Houston on October 29, 2020.  Additional venues are being sought and I will post those when secured. 

Art Cards Game

I recently became a member of Christians in the Visual Arts (CIVA) and it has been encouraging and inspiring!

I entered an EngageArtContest Engage Art Cards and have one of my artworks included!

These cards provide a fun and educational way to learn more about art and reflect on the Scripture that inspired each piece. 

They are offering a physical deck of the Engage Art Cards for people who request them on their website. (here: They are especially wanting to get the Art Cards into the hands of art educators (high school, college, and adult) and ministries that would be a good match for the content and have access to or relationships with artists. I want to invite you to request a deck and if you know of people who should have a set of these, please feel free to let them know where to make a request.    


Fiber Arts Show at NLR Argenta Branch Library
If you live in Central Arkansas, I want to invite you to a Fiber Arts exhibit at the North Little Rock Argenta Branch Library Gallery from Oct 18-Nov 9, 2019. The opening reception is Friday (the 18th) as part of NLR's 3rd Friday Artwalk from 5-8 pm. ( and I have 2 works, Hurt and Chance It Might, on display. This has become an annual exhibit in NLR Library. If you are a teacher, please encourage your students to visit as well.
               I missed the opening, but here are 3 dear attendees! 
Comfort and Joy Exhibition
What a great exhibition for the Christmas and New Year season! I have two vessels, Joy and Hopeful on display at the Foundry Art Centre in St Charles, MO. Bryan Hayne was the juror for this exhibition. He selected fifty-three works from artists in sixteen states and Taiwan. December 20, 2019 - January 24, 2020
Studio Art Quilts Associates (SAQA) Global Exhibition Opposites Attract 
My artwork is going to places that I will probably never be able to visit! That brings me such joy! I just received notification that one of my most recent works, Outwardly Wasting Away, Inwardly Renewed was one of 34 pieces selected by juror Gail M. Brown. This exhibition will debut at the Australasian Quilt Convention (April 16 to 19, 2020) and travel to four additional locations in Australia!

SAQA Global Exhibition Musica! My first international exhibition! My vessel Gladness was one of 31 pieces selected by juror Joe Cunningham. Musica! is scheduled to debut at the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky in March 2020. I will post the additional information and venues when they are announced.

Paula Kovarik has organized a wonderful celebration of quilting! I have one of my latest vessels, Thirst, on display. The exhibits are on view until July 28, 2019.


I hope to visit it again before closing!

Our Art Department began a newsletter this school year. I wanted to share an article written by friend and colleague, Jeff Young as I completed my final semester, Spring 2019.

I invite you to get those issues and consider a subscription to this beautiful publication. "Dance, Dance, Dance" features my artquilt Got to Go Dance on pages 102-105. And in the current issue my article "A Hairy Tail Tale" features my work Mottled Memories in memory of my beloved dog Jake.

The Makings of a Teacher: Textile Art by Deborah Kuster

I get to start my final school year at UCA with a small exhibit of my work displayed at UCA Downtown, 1105 W Oak St, Conway, AR. It includes six of my wall quilt weavings and seven of my vessels. The show is on view August 6- Oct 1, 2018. It is open M-F from noon-5:00. The Reception is Friday, September 21st from 4-6:00. Refreshments are provided by the College of Fine Arts and Communication. In addition, I am presenting a Professional Development workshop 9-4:00 that same day.  This all brings me much joy!
